VETERANS

If you have an injury, illness, or condition connected to your military service, DAV Chapter 4 Tucson can help you understand the VA disability compensation claims process. Our accredited benefits advocates can review your paperwork, help you prepare the information needed for your claim, and explain possible next steps.

This may include first-time disability claims, requests for an increased rating, secondary conditions, reopened issues, or questions about a VA decision letter. Our help is always no-cost.

If the VA denied your claim, gave you a lower rating than expected, or sent a decision letter you do not understand, you may have options. DAV Chapter 4 Tucson can help you review the decision and understand common decision review paths, including supplemental claims, higher-level reviews, and Board appeals.

Bring your VA decision letter and any related medical or service records. We cannot guarantee an outcome, but we can help you understand what the VA said and what steps may be available.

If you served near burn pits, Agent Orange, contaminated water, radiation, or other toxic exposures, you may have questions about PACT Act-related benefits. DAV Chapter 4 Tucson can help you understand what information may be needed and how toxic exposure may relate to a VA disability compensation claim.

Bring any VA letters, service records, deployment information, medical records, or notes about your exposure concerns. A benefits advocate can help you review what you have and discuss possible next steps.

SPOUSES & FAMILIES

If you are helping a veteran understand health care or disability benefits, DAV Chapter 4 Tucson can help you find a starting point. We can assist with VA letters, forms, disability compensation questions, and paperwork related to a veteran’s benefits.

Family members and caregivers are often the ones helping gather records, understand notices, or support a veteran through the process. You are welcome to contact us or visit during office hours with the documents you have.

After the loss of a veteran, it can be difficult to know what benefits may apply or what paperwork is needed. DAV Chapter 4 Tucson can help surviving spouses and qualifying family members understand questions related to survivor benefits, Survivors Pension, and Dependency and Indemnity Compensation.

If available, bring the veteran’s discharge papers, VA letters, marriage certificate, death certificate, and any recent VA correspondence. We can help you review the documents and understand possible next steps.

Surviving family members may have questions about VA burial and memorial benefits after the death of a veteran. DAV Chapter 4 Tucson can help you understand where to begin, what documents may be needed, and which VA resources may apply.

Bring any available military discharge papers, death certificate, funeral or cemetery paperwork, and VA correspondence. We can help point you toward the appropriate VA process and trusted resources.
