Chapter 4 Tucson

What We Do Locally

DAV Chapter 4 supports veterans and their families through:

  • No-cost benefits guidance
  • Help understanding VA claims and next steps
  • Local outreach and community connection
  • Volunteer opportunities for members and supporters
  • Chapter activities that keep veterans connected and informed
Veterans should not have to navigate the system alone. Our chapter is here to help them understand where to start and what steps may come next.

Part of a National Mission

DAV has served veterans for more than 100 years and was chartered by Congress in 1932. Today, DAV continues to advocate for veterans’ benefits, health care, services, and dignity after service. DAV Chapter 4 Tucson is one part of that larger mission — bringing local support to veterans and families here in southern Arizona.

Veterans Helping Veterans

DAV provides a structure through which disabled veterans can support one another through service, advocacy, and volunteer work. For many members, Chapter 4 is more than an organization. It is a place to stay connected, contribute, ask questions, and support fellow veterans and families in the Tucson community.

Meet some of the members and volunteers who help keep DAV Chapter 4 Tucson serving veterans, families, and survivors in our local community.

William “Bill” Valdez

U.S. Army, Vietnam Era

Bill Valdez has been a member of DAV Chapter 4 for nine years. He became involved after receiving help from a CSO himself and wants to help other veterans and their families access the benefits they’ve earned.

I help because I can. There is a great need to help veterans and their families.

Sonny Hardy

U.S. Air Force

Sonny Hardy has served as a certified Chapter Service Officer with Chapter 4 for about six months. He assists veterans across claim areas and helps connect them with DAV support.

I know the struggle veterans have when they need help. I send them to DAV.

James Palmietto

U.S. Air Force

James Palmietto serves with Chapter 4 to give back and help veterans with medical equipment needs.

Bill Marshall

U.S. Army, Vietnam and Cold War Era

Bill Marshall supports Chapter 4’s medical equipment work. After receiving help from DAV, he became involved to support other veterans and continue serving in a way that gives him purpose

Coming in here and hanging out with fellow veterans and doing good work for others gives me a sense of value and purpose.
